fifa club world cup 2020

FIFA Club World Cup is an international club football tournament between the winners of the six continental confederations, as well as the host nation’s league champions. Qatar was the country that hosted the tournament this year.

Ticketmaster was next to them, every step of the way, by providing our social distancing technology and guidance.

For almost two weeks, from February 1st to February 11th, fans were able to enjoy matches with their favorite teams live from Ahmad Bin Ali and Education City Stadiums in Qatar. In the end, there was a lot of positive feedback from fans, volunteers and the clubs saying that the hospitality was amazing and that they really felt safe knowing that heath and safety measures were implemented everywhere. Most importantly, everyone was so eager to come back to the stadiums which makes FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2020 a successful initiative.

All sales were online

Ticketmaster and FIFA Club World Cup had safety as a top priority. They made sure that contact between fans and clientele would be minimized as much as possible. Hence, there were only online sales available where the fans would select their seat. Then, they received payment confirmation via email with instructions to collect ticket at the Qatar National Convention Center (QNCC) up to 72 hours prior to the match. Moreover, there was a page with informative content for the fans regarding their health and safety during the games and how FIFA Club World Cup was implementing safety measures.

Medical Check before entering the venue

A Ticketing and Medical Center was setup at the QNCC for ticket pickup and rapid tests. Specifically, fans had to show their vaccination certificate or their covid certificate to the Medical Staff. The covid certificate showed that they had passed COVID-19 after Oct 1st. If they didn’t have any certification, rapid tests occurred there.

Fans with the

  • vaccination certificate
  • covid certificate
  • negative rapid test

were directed to the pickup line in order to receive their ticket. In the pickup line there were only 30 seats available in order to avoid overcrowding. The fan approached the box office once their ticket number was in the screen.

At the Stadium

At the match day, fans kept their masks at all times. Group of fans had different gates as entrances. As a result, social distancing measures were easy to comply and avoid overcrowding. When fans were inside the stadium, the personnel would direct them to their seat which kept a distance from other seats for safety issues.

After a long time, not only fans were able to enjoy the match safely from up-close but also the team players were happy to feel their fans’ support because nothing compares to live.
