The “Qatar Emir Cup” is a football tournament that takes place in Qatar among the best teams of 1st and 2nd division. It is a particularly fan popular event. It was first introduced in 1972 and since then has been taking place every year with great success.

This year’s final had an additional glamour added. Firstly, the finalists, Al-Sadd Sc and Al-Duhail SC, delivered a spectacular game, scoring 5 times in front of (more than) 38.000 spectators. Secondly, the renovated Al Janoub Stadium was introduced, formerly known as Al Wakrah Stadium; a venue that will host also 2020 FIFA World Cup games.

At the final of Qatar Emir Cup, Al-Duhail,after scoring four times against the ‘16-times tournament winner’ Al-Sadd (final score 1-4), was crowned the big winner.
